Benefits of LMS for IUM Students and Faculty
Improved Course Management and Delivery
By creating ease for both instructors and learners, enabling mobile and self-paced learning, monitoring and reporting learner progress and saving precious resources by removing manual and redundant tasks.
Flexible Learning Opportunities
It allows for the creation and management of courses that can be easily scaled up or down as required. Moreover, LMS provides flexibility by supporting various learning formats, including e-learning modules, videos, webinars, and assessments.
Enhanced Communication and Collaboration
One of the key advantages of using an LMS is that it serves as a centralized communication hub for teachers, students, and parents. Instead of relying on multiple channels such as emails, phone calls, or physical meetings, all communication can be streamlined within the LMS. Teachers can easily share announcements, assignments, and resources with their students, while learners can ask questions and seek clarification directly within the platform. https://learningmanagementsystem.co.in/blog/lms-software.aspx

What is LMS?
This is a software application that helps organizations manage, deliver and track educational courses. It’s no surprise when people talk about learning it conjures images of school, further education, or even once-and-done training days. What may be surprising though, is that as the world becomes ever more digitized, education and training are following suit. Gone are the days of low engagement, retention, and high costs, as the world recognizes the benefits of eLearning.
Historical context of LMS at IUM
According to Timoteus a Sheepo's article in the Varsity Vibes 2021, The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the biggest disruption of the education systems in human history. According to a UNESCO report, this has affected over 1.5 billion students in 165 countries around the globe, and in Africa, about 297 million students have been affected. The pandemic has led to closures of schools and educational institutions, which have impacted more than 94% of the world student population. As a result of the Pandemic, educational institutions were forced to send students home due to the imposed lockdowns and social distancing measures. In the bid for teaching and learning to continue amid the Pandemic, educational institutions made concerted efforts at shifting from the usual face-to-face classes to online teaching & learning mode: thus shifting focus on the use of E-learning tools and platforms for the effective delivery of online classes. E-learning is described as the delivery of learning via technology and the internet and is covered under a larger term of technology-based learning through learning Management systems (LMS), video conferencing platforms such as Big Blue Button, Google meets, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and YouTube.
